Eric and Gastón met in 2011 and as co-workers they shared their passion for a greener future.  It wasn’t too long before they realized the importance and potential of a green business, so they've ventured in the creation of Energy Experts CR also known as ENEX in 2016.

The Team.

Eric Fischel Jiménez

Eric is truly an engine powered by his passion for green buildings and sustainability, with a strong background in electrical-mechanical design and more than 18 years of experience.

He studied at Universidad Internacional de las Americas and achieved a bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering in 2007. In his quest for more efficient and sustainable designs, he came across a “little book” called The LEED Reference Guide and immediately understood the direction of his career. After many hours of studying and understanding how to implement the strategies, he became one of the first LEED AP BD+C in Costa Rica in 2010 and in 2012 led a design and construction team to achieve the first LEED Certified hotel in Costa Rica. He also obtained the credential as an EDGE Expert/Auditor with the GBCI and the Costa Rica Green Building Council.

His great abilities of communication, leadership and entrepreneur sprit has led him to participate in keynotes and technical speeches for green building conferences and collaborate in multiple projects that sum up to 400,000 m2 of LEED Certified buildings in Latin America.

He is also guitar and music appassionato, sometimes you can find him in the break room solving problems with his blues and rock rhythms.

Gastón Michaud Fernández

Gaston is definitely our numbers guy. He spends most of his day in an Excel spreadsheet analyzing results from an energy modeling software, or understanding trends of live energy use of a client, or even monitoring his training as an avid mountain biker.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de Costa Rica (2011), and later pursued a master’s degree in Project Management at UCI (2015).  He became a LEED AP BD+C in 2012, motivated by his desire to inspire a suitable efficiency mindset on all stakeholders when designing and constructing a new building.

With more than eight years of experience in green building certifications and as co-founder of ENEX, Gaston is a key player in the organization.

Diego Román

Diego joined ENEX in 2022 and has since been an invaluable member of the team.

His passion for energy efficiency and his proactive, level-headed approach to problem solving have led him to contribute to many LEED certification projects.

Diego graduated from the Universidad de Costa Rica, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2022 and obtained his LEED Green Associate credentials in 2024. His pursuit for educational growth however, has not only been reserved for himself, as he has proven to be an incredible mentor and guide for new members in the team. Without hesitation, Diego is always willing to lend a hand when needed.

His ability to foresee problems before they even arise has made him an incredibly reliable and resourceful member of the team, for whom everyone turns to for advice both in professional and sports related topics. Whether it be soccer, football, basketball or even mini golf, Diego’s sporting knowledge cannot go unperceived.

Diego’s drive and passion inspires us all to strive for excellence and to go above and beyond in our work. This team would not be the same without him.
